Troops Foil Bandit Attack, Neutralizes Bandit, Rescue Kidnap Victim and Recover Weapons in Plateau State

Troops of 3 Division and Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) carried out coordinated intelligence-led operations in the early hours of Tuesday, successfully disrupting planned bandit attacks and recovering concealed weapons.

The first operation, conducted along the Plateau–Taraba border, was based on credible intelligence indicating a planned assault on Kampani Zurak in Wase Local Government Area (LGA). Troops made contact with the armed criminals at their concentration point on the Dutsen Zaki High Ground in Wase LGA. In the ensuing firefight, one bandit was neutralised while others escaped with gunshot wounds.

During the clearance operation, troops also rescued a 24-year-old kidnapping victim, Mr. Auwalu Isa, who had been abducted from Kampani Zurak. He has since been debriefed and reunited with his family, while follow-up operations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing assailants.

Later the same day, at approximately 1:20 p.m., troops acting on further intelligence conducted another operation in Pandam Forest, Qua’an Pan LGA, where bandits were reported to have hidden weapons due to heightened military pressure under Operation Lafiyan Jama’a. A freshly dug site was discovered and excavated, leading to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, one magazine, and 30 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition.

The recovered arms are currently in military custody for further investigation, and operations in the area are being sustained to uncover additional hidden weapons caches.

These recent successes underscore the ongoing efforts of Operation Safe Haven to combat criminal elements and recover illegal weapons in Plateau State.

The military has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of communities within its Joint Operations Area.
