Both principal parties in the ongoing legal tussle over the last Plateau State governorship election will know their fate soon, as the Governorship Elections Tribunal sitting in Jos has rounded up hearing in the petition challenging the election of Governor Simon Lalong, and is set to deliver judgment.

The tribunal, Friday, adopted written addresses from the petitioner, Senator Gyang Pwajok of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who was the main challenger to Lalong of the All Progressives’ Congress (APC), as well as all respondents namely, the governor, his party, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to round up hearing in the case.

Chief Robert Clarke, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), who is the lead counsel to both Senator Pwajok and the PDP said in his final written address that INEC gave them fake documents, and urged the tribunal to cancel the election.

But counsel for APC urged the tribunal chairman to dismiss the petition for lack of merit. He said the entire evidence brought by the petitioners failed short of law.

According to him, the petitioners failed to call witnesses to testify.

Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Johnson Candade hailed the legal representations of the parties for putting aside their differences after the sitting by embracing each other.

The adoption of the written addresses witnessed the presence of the first respondent, Governor Lalong, who stormed the court with supporter of the APC.
