A member of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Timothy Dantong has raised alarm that there are strong moves to cede Plateau State lands to foreigners.

The member made this disclosure at the Plateau State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party’s SEC meeting ongoing right now.

Hon. Dantong, who is representing Riyom Local Government Area (LGA), at the State House of Assembly said, he had to make this known publicly because of the meeting that has drawn members from the different parts of the state.

In an exclusive interview with REALITY at the venue, Hon. Timothy Dantong, disclosed that the move to cede and surrender Plateau State lands to foreigners is embedded in an Executive Bill before the House of Assembly, which has just passed second reading barely three (3) weeks when the State Executive submitted it to the House for deliberation and approval.

He said the Bill, which is hoped to be used in establishing Land Administrators’ powers in the state is, “Excluding the state’s Traditional Rulers from participating or being members”.

Hon. Timothy Dantong, said, “I am using all means and this opportunity to call and tell the people of Plateau State, to come out during the public hearing of the Bill and kill it at that stage or level, else the executive would have the powers to cede our lands to anybody and for any use or purpose.”
