The Painful Exit of Dr. Obadiah Mailafia is Not the End of the Struggle – Amb. John Pofi

The National Coordinator Prayer Force Network, Amb. John Pofi has said the demise of Dr. Obadiah Mailafia is not the end of the struggle. He said the reowned Banker died defending the truth.

His full Statement reads;

THE PAINFUL EXIT OF DR. OBADIAH MAILAFIA IS NOT THE END OF THE STRUGGLE- AMB. JOHN POFI.

The death of dogged fighter, Father, mentor, friend, brother, comrade in the struggle and one of the fewest surviving gadflies, is one blow that has hit me below the belt and one that I cannot quantify the amount of time that will pass to heal it despite the general believe that time heals.

No amount of time will heal this monumental blow, colossal loss and a life time damage to this generation and those unborn.

As a clergyman, I absolutely believe in the inevitability of death but the manner in which the Middle Belt fighter died, is suspicious leaving many unanswered questions. Why was he taking shelter from one state to the other? Because security forces were trailing and threatening him. Why are they doing so? Because he is always telling truth to power. Is he first to tell truth to power? Is it a crime in civil rule (because ours is not democracy) for people to voice out their grievances? Is it because he is a Christian who has put his life on the line to defend the people of his marginalised, traumatised and dehumanised region where people are slaughtered like chickens daily?

Dr. Mailafia is renowned for standing by the truth, for the oppressed, the suppressed, the dehumanised, the traumatised and down trodden in his abandoned and neglected Southern part of Kaduna and the middle Belt.

Religiously, he was a dogged defender of the faith, who has consistently and courageously voiced out terrible injustices meted against Christianity and Christians in Nigeria. I will not be far from the truth if I say, it was because of his outright hatred for injustice of any kind that led to his mysterious and untimely death.

Well, he saw it coming because when the harassment by security forces was going out of hand, he raised an alarm about his safety and today we are witnesses to the manner of his death, leaving so many unanswered questions about the health care systems and their mode of operations.

I will miss him dearly especially with the increasing injustices against the minority and the faith by the APC government of Mohammadu Buhari.

On behalf of my family, the John Pofi Foundation, the John Pofi Movement and the Prayer Force Network, I wish to sincerely commiserate with the good Nigerians, the entire people of Southern Kaduna and the Mailafia family.

Be rest assured that God will certainly reveal the truth, if not now, certainly later. Goodnight sir!

Adieu, the Iroko tree.
