THE NEED FOR YOUTH INCLUSION INTO THE PLATEAU STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL

It is nothing bizarre to state that ‘the youths are the backbone of any thriving society’ this is captured by Helen Keller’s statement that “civilization can’t flow backward while there are youths in the world”, this, therefore, means that the state of Plateau has powerful potentials in the youths that can bring about positive change, practices, and development.

Taking a serious look at the ‘Rescue Administration’ led by H.E.Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong the Executive Governor of Plateau State, one will understand that the government of the day is youth-friendly and therefore carries the youth along in all her dealings. A close look at this occurrence is in the October 9th Local Government Election in the State where youths were allowed to be party flag bearers in some L.G.A’s, this was grown-up by the swearing-in of four (4) youths to serve as Local Government Chairmen (Kanke, Mikang, Lantang North and Riyom).
As Oliva Twist always asking for more, I write the youth-oriented government of the day asking that you solemnly wave back to the youths the position of a member into the Executive Council. Taking into cognizance the fact that there was just but a youth in the Executive Council by name Hon. Barr. Bitrus Zulfa now serving as the Executive Chairman of Lantang North Local Government. The youths will feel not shortchanged as it is a known fact based on the antecedents of Hon. Barr. Bitrus Zulfa (who is being entrusted to serve the people of Lantang North L.G), that youth can bring about fresh and valuable ideas that will harness the development and growth of our dear state. Bringing up youth to serve in the Council will be an exquisite move towards dreaming and acting Plateau.

In the words of Adolf Hitler, “He alone, who owns the youths gains the future” and so this is a call to H.E.Rt.Hon. Simon Bako Lalong to look back at a group of vibrant individuals (Youths) who have stood relentlessly with this administration to see to it that the government and Plateau State succeed. It will not be out of place to state that today the voices of the youths sound louder than the voices of most Commissioners on the Plateau.

It is a prayer that the established relationship between this government and the youths will continue to wax stronger as we await 2023.
