The Jos Conundrum : The Need For Critical Analysis

As tensions are dousing down, I believe we need to give the unfortunate situation what is called critical analysis. And where possible prefer solutions.
First, we were informed by the press that 25 people ( Yoruba) Muslims were brutally killed by an irate mob of particularly Irigwe ethnic group.
The purported Yoruba Muslims were said to be returning to Ondo state from Bauchi state where they went on a religious tourism organized by sheik Dahiru Bauchi.
We were told that the returning religious tourists whether by delibrate calculation or by what means missed the road passed through Farin Gada, Gada Biu and took towards Rukuba road and by coincidence met the Irigwe people conveying corpses of their beloved family members who were gruesomely killed by the usual “unknown gunmen”.
Pundits have it that it was a convoy of fifteen buses. All moving towards Rukuba road. This was said to have ignited curiosity in the youths which led to confrontation. The long story may be burdensome. Therefore, let us quickly analyse what happened.
Before the unfaithful incidence on Rukuba road, Bassa local government and in particular, the irigwe nation has been under intensive attack from “unknown gunmen ” in which they lost slot of lives and properties worth a billion naira or more. Curiously, government and it’s institution of violence ( Army, police, civil defence, DSS ,DIA and indeed the NIA) did not arrest and bring the perpetrators to book. Unconfirmed source disclosed that the buses had coffins and that after thorough search, the coffins were said to be containing weapons which the mourners believed would be used in killing them during the mass burial exercise. This happened with late senator Dantong and Fulani a member representing Barkin Ladi in the plateau state House of Assembly. Nobody in his true sense would turn the blind eye when his neighbour’s house is on fire. The irigwe nation had to react.
But let me ask these questions forensically.

  1. On what day/date did the Ondo Muslims passed through Jos to Bauchi?
  2. At what time did they passed through Jos?
  3. Was that the first time the drivers of the fifteen vehicles passed through Jos?
  4. If that was their first time, who was their guide?
  5. Last but perhaps not the least question, when did they divert the road from Bauchi junction through Bauchi road or Bauchi ring road to old airport leading to Maraban Jamaa to Farin gada through Gada Biu, Rukuba road to Kwall, vom etc etc? These questions are paramount because otherwise, every sane mind will run into the conclusion that there was something up the sleeves of the shirts of those religious tourists.
Curiously too, I beg to ask the Police Public Relations officer how he run into the conclusion that the killers were only Irigwe tribe? And why is it that up to now no arrest has been made of the unknown gunmen? Should your suspicion be the same with mine then I seriously suspect an active collaboration and connivance from those at the disposal of weapons of violence.
Truly, there is more to be desired than mere speculation. Pointedly, a Muslim cleric stated that the Muslim terrorists were not Yoruba from ondo as alleged by the PPRO. It was established by the cleric that these were Northern Muslims based in ondo.
The above analysis further called into questioning, the speed with which the state government reacted in respect of the Rukuba road episode. The killings in Miango and other parts Rukuba took place unabated without any response from the authorities. If the government that is supposed to give immediate response to the security challenges faced by its citizens at Miango could did not border about them but was quick to visit the Muslim tourists who sustain injuries in the hospital at the detriment of it’s own citizens that were maimed by unknown gunmen, then there is more to it than meet the common eyes. Indeed, there is time for everything. To each and everyone of us, there is also season too. Man or woman, the young and the old, the have and have not. There is a time to be born and a time to die. A time to laugh and a time to cry. A time to live and a time to die. In between is the opportunity to to live to serve, to serve to the glory of God and our beloved country Nigeria.
I m respectfully yours, Comrade Dangauta Nankhitok ( Karl Marx) Jr. To be continue…
