Alfred Dapal Damiyal Calls for more prayers and unity as Plateau marks 20 years Memorial Day of Jos Crisis, Says Peace must define our call to action

As today marks the 20 years memorial day since Jos crisis erupted precisely on the 7th September 2021 which resulted in mass killings and destruction of valuables of unprecedented proportion throughout the state, Alfred Dapal calls for sober reflection, intensified prayers and unity of purpose to defeat darkness, sorrow, evil and pains in the hearts of men in order to usher a new era of peace, light and prosperity.

Recall that when the Jos crisis started, interventions came too little and too late. Lives were lost and everywhere was in flames. Since then, Plateau state keeps witnessing pockets of attacks, bloodbath and carnage resulting in setbacks, underdevelopment, tension, mistrust, injustice and uncertainties.

Worried by the constant threat to peace and tranquillity in the state, Alfred Dapal said, “we must strive to protect and defend the heritage and integrity of Plateau state. It is God’s own state. It is our state. Those trying to put the state on the wrong side of history will be disappointed. Unity of purpose must form the cornerstone of our noble intentions and patriotism. The past is gone. Me must never allow violent conflicts to mar us again. If we choose to be bound by the past, we will never move forward. The future beckons” The statement reads in part.

Mr. Dapal further called on the government to expedite more action and re-strategize to advance security initiatives as well as develop critical policies that have direct bearing on Plateau people.
