Suspected Fulani Herdsmen Kills 3 Natives in Bassa LGA, Plateau State after community reports threats

Report reaching Viewpoint Nigeria has it that persons were killed on Monday 22nd January, 2018 by armed militias suspected to herdsmen in Rikwe Chongu village, Miango district of Bassa LGA, Plateau state.

The 3 persons according to a survivor, Sunday Samson were returning from a mining site when they were attacked,

Mr. Sunday Samson who escaped luckily said the attackers had AK 47 rifles, which they used to kill the two persons and used a machete to kill the third one.

Confirming the incident, the Plateau State Police PRO, ASP TERNA TYOPEV, said the commissioner of police has since deployed security personnel to the area to beef up security and restore normalcy.

This attack is coming few days after the IRIGWE DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION (IDA), the umbrella body of the IRIGWE nation issued a statement, admonishing for vigilance, especially by security agencies, saying attacks such as this were eminent following a release by the miyyeti Allah cattle breeders association, MACBAN which had alleged lost of cattle around the area.

The community members who denied the claims had viewed the earlier statement as a move to carryout unprovoked attacks on innocent citizens of Irigwe Nation.

The Police PRO in the state had said that the Officer in charge of Homicide had been commissioned to specially investigate the latest claims and prevent any bloodshed.

Some community leaders in the area, have called on the government to exhibit sincerity and seriousness in halting the continuous attacks on innocent members of the community.
