Soldiers allegedly kill 35-year woman in Plateau

 

A 35-years woman, Sarah Edward Nyam, was allegedly shot dead in Fwapwa Doi Village of Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State on Thursday night by men of the Nigerian army.

Doi village is neighbouring the Dura Du village where the missing Army General Alkali Car was discovered in a mining pond some weeks ago.

Husband of the women, Mr Edward Nyam ,told Journalist on Friday that his wife was shot dead on Thursday night around 7:35pm and alleged that the military who had visited the village shot his wife and mother of five.

“My wife had relocated with the children on Monday to Lapamde village to Doi as result of harassment of the military on the daily basis us, but just yesterday around 7:35pm she was shot dead.

”You can see the gun shot on her body and the wall of the house, we have five children with her now and i am left alone with the children, we didn’t know what we did to deserved this, since the discovery of the missing army General car in Dura Du, we here in Doi cannot sleep and we don’t know our own crime”, he said.

Viewpoint gathered that owners of Houses located close to the Dura Du, Mining pond and neighboring villages such as Doi, Lapamde has all relocated for the fear of unknown.

Village Head of Doi Da Michael Gyang, while speaking on the incident, said the community is been humiliated by the military without any crime.

“Three days ago around 3am soldiers came to the village here in Doi block all the roads linking Doi with other hamlet here, they stop people from accessing their homes, they bungle every shop here, eating our chicken and goat, ransack our homes.

“Our schools have been close down as result of the ugly activities of the military here, we don’t know what is our crime her, our children no longer go to school.

“We urged the Government to take away the military from our domain, why are they killing us, what did we do? If they are really trained Military why are they destroying people homes, shops and taken our properties, has Nigerian Military becomes unprofessional now?.

Da Gyang condemns the killing of the women in Doi, saying doesn’t it means that the military who are to defend the masses has now becomes a danger to the innocent citizens.

Viewpoint also visited the scene of the incident in Doi village and witness the serious destruction of shops in the community.

However It would be recalled that theCommander, 3 Division Garrison, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment Jos and Commander, Search and Rescue Operations for the missing Major-General Idris Alkali (rtd), Brigadier-General Umar Mohammed had during parading 13 arrested suspects allegedly involved in the kidnapping of the missing Major-General Idris Alkali (rtd) that were handed over to the police said assured the community of Dura Du area not to entertain any fear as they are said to have deserted the place for fear of molestation and arrest by the soldiers. “We are professional army. We have our rules of engagement and we also follow international best practices.

Reports has it that the Divisional Police officer in charge of Bukuru, Jos South Local Government of the state had visited the scene of the killing of the woman and taken their report based on the report of the community to the Police.
