Plateau awards N5bn road projects

The Plateau State Government yesterday awarded three contracts worth N5 billion for the construction of roads in Jos.

The projects were sited in Anguwan Rogo, Tudun Wanda, Tina, Dutse uku and Chanyap all in Jos North Local Government Area of the state.

The government awarded a contract of N1.5 billion to Letokem Nig Ltd for the construction of the Anguwan rogo-Ali Kazaure road; N1.8 billion to Jolex Nig. Ltd for the construction of Tudun Wada-Mado village road and China’s Chinazhonghao was awarded a N1.7 billion contract for the construction of roads around Dutse Uku, Chanyap, Tina and others.

The Commissioner of Housing and Urban Development, Samuel Galadima, while signing the contracts, said it was part of Governor Simon Lalong’s promise to the communities.

He said the contractors were expected to move to site immediately as the contracts were for a 12- month period.

He said the government was ready to revoke any contractual agreement breached.

The chairman of the State House of Assembly Committee on Housing and Urban Development, Jacob Kasaan, urged the communities to cooperate with the contractors.
