Six suspects have been released as gunmen ambush prison officials in Plateau.

In Barkin Ladi, gunmen suspected to be herdsmen near the Plateau High Court targeted a convoy of correctional officers who transmitted fourteen suspects charged with crimes ranging from murder to abduction and rape.

The gunmen reportedly laid ambush at the entrance to the courthouse, shot randomly and freed 6 suspects

Commenting on the incident, the commander of Nigerian Correctional Service Plateau state Mr S.A. Musa has stated that the Police Commissioner, Edward Egbuka, said that he was not informed of any change of hearing date by the Trial.

Nonetheless, 4 suspects have been arrested and two bikes that were believed to belong to gunmen have been recovered.
