SEPI Urges Plateau Youths to Leverage on Technology and Social Media for Wealth Creation and Progress

Youths in Plateau State and Nigeria have been enjoined Youths to take full advantage of the opportunities provided by the social media and technology for wealth creation and sustainable development so that they can add value to their respective workplaces and the Nation at large.

The Executive Director of Social Empowerment and Peace Initiative (SEPI), Friday Bako gave the charge at Greatlinks during a Seminar with theme “Leveraging on Technology/Social Media for Wealth Creation and Sustainable Development” organized to mark the International Youth Day 2024 with the theme “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Pathways For Sustainable Development”
According to him “Technology and social media have wide range of opportunities which must be tapped and effectively utilised for wealth creation and self sustainability. Youths possess multidimensional talents that must be harnessed effectively in order for them to attain their full potentials at appreciable levels”.

He urged government at all levels to enact laws, make policies and initiate programmes that will have direct bearing on the youths and build their capacities so that the World at large will tap and bebefit from the talents and capability of the young population who have proven to be purpose-driven.
“Government at all levels must be deliberate efforts geared towards empowering the Youth through robust capacity building and harnessing their exceptional capacities and competencies for Nation building” he said

He emphasis the need for the youth to build and develop themselves to be irresistibly relevant in the society.

A Blogger, Digital Marketer and IT Consultant, Ibrahim Kallamu while delivering his paper on the topic “Leveraging on Technology for Sustainable Development” highlighted how crucial technology is to advancing development. He urged the Youths to acquire digital skills which he said will help them get opportunities in the ever changing technological landscape.
According to him, technology forms the foundation for sustainable development hence the need to leverage on same. He said the opportunities technology offers must be harnessed if sustainable development is to be achieved.

“technology and social media have come to stay and it is imperative that we embraced them and maximise their advantages” he said.

Matthew Tegha a renowned Blogger, Content Creator and Social Media Strategies in his presentation on the theme “embracing the Social Media for Wealth Creation” highlighted the transformative potentials of the social media for personal and financial growth.
“With approximately 5.3 billion internet users worldwide, and over 70% of Nigerian users between 18 to and 34 years old, there is substantial opportunity for engaging these platforms. Smart social media use can greatly enhance business prospects and lead to financial success, with avenues such as e-commerce, content creation, and influencer marketing,” he said.

He also emphasized the need for social media influencers to be consistent, build brands and ensure they make effective use of the platforms provided by the social media.

Some Participants, Jimmy Pam, Rose Adiwu, Noro Pam and Joy Dauda all appreciated SEPI for the training and said they are better equipped on how effective they should use technology and social media for wealth creation and sustainable development.
They said the training has provided them better knowledge and understanding on the roles technology and the social media is playing in the World.
