Former Plateau State governor, Senator Joshua Chibi Dariye has expressed sadness over the recent death of 59 persons during a Tanker explosion in Niger State.
Senator Dariye described the incident as sad and regrettable noting that the accident was avoidable if road speed limit and other regulations were adhered to.
He lamented that the incident which is one too many, could have been averted if the regulatory agencies discharge their duties professionally.
“It’s risky and unhygienic to convey passengers and animals in the same vehicle. This is something the security agencies should assist the Federal Road Safety Commission to try enforce , especially in the rural areas”, the former governor observed .
“With strict regulations, this deaths would have avoided. It’s high time regulatory agencies should wake up to their responsibilities and stop these avoidable deaths”
The former governor used the opportunity to commiserate with the Niger State Governor, Umar Bago , people of Niger State as well as the families of those who lost their relations in the inferno.
While praying for the speedy recovery of those who sustain various degrees of injuries, Senator Dariye implores road users to be more vigilant and observe traffic regulations as they ply the road.
He enjoined government, public spirited individuals and Corporate organisations to come to the aid of the injured in order to ensure their quick recovery.
