The Internal Security Team of the Plateau State Specialist Hospital has arrested a man identified as Sani Umar of Gangare Community in Jos North for allegedly stealing fifteen bundles of assorted electric cables from the Children’s Ward.
According to the Hospital’s Public Relations Officer, Talatu Achan Angi, the suspect attempted to conceal the cables by wrapping them in hospital ward curtains and disguising them as clothing he claimed he had been directed to deliver.
She said the prompt intervention of the security officer on duty led to his immediate arrest.
The suspect has since been handed over to the ‘A’ Division Police Station for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Management of the Plateau State Specialist Hospital has condemned the act, describing it as sabotage against government efforts to improve hospital infrastructure. They warned that such criminal activities threaten essential healthcare services.
The Management also commended the vigilance of the security personnel and called on staff and the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activity within the hospital.
The Plateau State Specialist Hospital reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment for all patients and visitors.
