The Member representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on Navy, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, PhD, OON, has expressed strong confidence in his chances of reelection, attributing it to his robust legislative performance and impactful constituency engagements.
Speaking during an interaction with Journalists, online Media Practitioners, and Social Media Influencers at his Rayfield residence in Jos, Gagdi said his legislative and constituency achievements are “loud, visible, and undeniable.”
He dismissed ongoing criticisms as “campaigns of calumny” by detractors threatened by his performance, stressing that he remains focused and leaves his political fate “in the hands of God.”
Highlighting his scorecard since 2019, the lawmaker revealed he has sponsored 58 bills, with six already signed into law by the President. These include key legislations such as the establishment of the Federal University of Education, Pankshin, the Police Act, Admiralty University, and the National Hydrographic Agency.
Dr. Gagdi maintained that true representation should be measured by tangible impact, noting that his efforts have attracted jobs in strategic agencies, boosted education, and delivered critical infrastructure across Pankshin, Kanke, and Kanam.
He listed road rehabilitation projects in Pankshin, construction of schools, hospitals, bridges, and empowerment initiatives as part of his interventions.
On zoning concerns, Gagdi expressed confidence in his chances, noting that all three LGAs have historically produced candidates during House of Representatives polls since 1999. He pointed to his electoral growth from winning with less than 3,000 votes in 2019 (post-tribunal) to over 31,000 votes in 2023 as evidence of rising popularity.
“The Constitution does not limit how many times I can contest,” he said, urging opponents to engage voters with ideas rather than sentiment.
Addressing national security, Gagdi blamed external influences and past governance failures, warning that the proliferation of illegal arms is alarming and must be decisively tackled. He called on security agencies to rise to their constitutional responsibilities with patriotism.
He also threw his weight behind Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, describing his performance as “exceptional” and worthy of another term, particularly for his focus on rural infrastructure.
Gagdi further praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that his leadership will yield long-term benefits for Nigerians. He expressed confidence that no credible challenger currently matches Tinubu’s experience and capacity.
Looking ahead, the lawmaker projected victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) across all levels in the 2027 general elections.
