Minority Leader Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu said the immense contributions of the youth to nationhood cannot be overstressed.
Rep. Elumelu made these disclosures on the Independence Day celebration to mark Nigeria @ 59 on the role of the youths in Nation building.
Rt. Hon. Elumelu made this known at the Church of God Mission Int’l, Abuja Bishopric Hqtrs at her National Prayer Service, 5th Edition with the theme “the role of the Church in Nation Building”
Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumeu who was represented by his Senior Legislative Aide, former Speaker Plateau State House of Assembly, Member Federal House of Representatives who represented Shendam/Mikang/Qua’anpan Federal Constituency Plateau State & former Member ECOWAS Parliament, Rt. Hon. George Edwards Daika said the critical roles played by the youth post independence remains beneficial to Nigeria.
Rep. Elumelu harped on the need for the youths to believe in their abilities, capabilities and capacities and God Almighty for whatever they seek in life.
He said they need to be Prayerful, focused and determined in their quest to realize their life long ambitions.
He further encouraged them to be ambitious and have a set out goals, to equally zero their minds, energies, resources and times towards such targets.
He said believing in self and God, nothing is impossible in life and the word “Impossible” can only be found in the dictionaries of the fools and weak minds, that with self-determination and entrusting one’s whole faith in God nothing is impossible, in as much there is the will, there’s always hope.
He said the strength of one’s Character which has to do with Values and Integrity also plays very vital roll in molding, grooming and positioning the youths in the face of challenges in nation building. This other aspect starts from home and it behooves on parents and guardians to lead by examples, nurture and bring up the children in a Christ like way of life. He charged the youth to build godly character and live decent and responsible lifestyles.
Rep. Elumelu posited that the youths shouldn’t in any way underrate themselves, believe, explore and exploit their God given talents and potentials and when all these are properly harnessed, they become very productive and results oriented. By continuously building their capacities, they become knowledgeable, efficient and effective in providing their best in governance and other fields of expertise or endeavors.
He said their ability to learn from the experiences, failures and successes of those elders in government should be seen as a yardstick in diverting from the old analog practices and induce into the systems new innovative ideas that would usher in tremendous developmental growth in nation building.
He said the youths ought to be guarded by their faith and believe in nation’s unity in diversity. This, by being true ambassadors and custodians of our norms and values. He urged them to see themselves as role models and brother’s keepers. He said they should be obedient and honest in all their endeavors as embedded in our guiding principles.
He admonished them to shun any form of social vices, bad influences that could be very detrimental to selves and nation building.
He further said that the Church plays very vital role in nation building and its survival and as such urged the Church and all the spiritual leaders not to relent in their efforts in bringing up the youths morally and spiritually.
The August function was occasioned by the presentation of Awards to Awardees. Present at the occasion, were, Senator Andrew Uchendu, Hon. Ossai Ossai, who also presented a paper, was the Chairman of the Planning Committee, the Arcbishop and other high profile dignitaries.
