By Golok Nanmwa,Jos
Plateau State Government on Saturday said it is spending huge sums of money in road infrastructural development to promote the socio-economic development of its citizens and therefore warned that it would not condone any community or individual who deface or destroy the roads for whatever reason.
Governor Simon Lalong in a warning issued by State Commissioner of Information and Communication Dan Manjang made available to newsmen said no community or individual is permitted to erect speed bums on any road or break them to pass pipes or cables.
Manjang said Governor Lalong also decried the burning of tires on roads during festivities.
He has consequently given all local government administrations in the state the marching order to ensure all illegal road blocks are removed across the state. The Information and Communication Commissioner Dan Manjang said the State Ministry of works has been mandated to constitute a committee to ensure compliance. In addition, zebra crossings will be created where appropriate on the roads. While appealing to motorists against over speeding, Governor Simon Lalong implored the Federal Road Safety Commission and and other traffic enforcement agencies to sanction reckless road users when apprehended. The Governor wish all citizens pleasurable and safe use of the roads during the festivities and beyond.
