Jos – In order to improve food production, food sufficiency in Riyom LGA as well as put smiles and give sense of belong to Widows, orphans and some vulnerable in communities affected by violent crisis in Riyom LGA, the Executive Chairman of Riyom Local Government Council, Hon. Mafeng Gwallson has donated farm input (fertilizers) to the target group for the farming season.
Hon. Mafeng Gwallson who was accompanied by his wife, top management Officers of the Council and other appointees appreciated Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre for identifying with the vulnerable at their trying moment.
He said the Council is assisting the Centre to portray how agriculture has been prioritize in the Area.
The Council Boss said the Council will continue to identify with and give greater attention to the less privileged and make sure they are productive.
He said the welfare and security of the people remain critical and his priority.
Hon. Gwallson also appreciated the people of the area for their cooperation and level of compliance to health protocols as well as government directives on COVID-19 saying the Local Government Area is yet to record any case of the dreaded virus. He urged them to increase compliance and stay safe.
He thereafter distributed facemasks to the people while advising them to maintain high respiratory and personal hygiene.
In his remark, Chief Ayuba Burki Gufwan the Executive Director of the Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre said though core mandate of the Centre is alleviating the plights of people living with disabilities, it deemed it fit to reach out to the area which he described as a handicapped Area on account of violent crisis that has been affecting it.
He said the Centre deemed it fit to assist the vulnerable with fertilizers to boost agricultural yield in the area in order to enhance food sufficiency.
He charged the beneficiaries to remain steadfast, trust in God and live lives of total obedience to God, the Creator of mankind. He said the Centre will continue to identify areas of needs with the aim of addressing same.
In their separate remarks, Gwom Jol HRH Da Danladi Taje, Council Jol Ward Hon. Joshua Adams and Jol Youth Leader Mr. Chong Samuel commended the humanitarian gesture of the centre and call on government, other NGOs and well spirited persons who have the means to come to the aid of the people who have suffered losses and are traumatized.
They prayed God to open greater doors to the Centre and Riyom Local Government Council so they can impact more lives and the society at large. They lauded the impacts being made by the Centre nationally.
Some widows who could not hide their joy lauded both the Centre and Riyom Council for the assistance saying the gesture has strengthened them and given them sense of belonging. They promised to put the farm input to effective use.
Beautiful Gate Centre donated 60 bags of fertilizer and was supported with 20 bags by the Council Boss, Hon. Mafeng Gwallson which were distributed to the target group.
The centre has also distributed over 300 bags of Fertilizers to same target persons in Mangu, Bokkos, Barkin Ladi and Bassa LGAs in Plateau State.
