Polycarp Zongo of COCIN LCC Wildlife Park Jos Plateau State and Pastor Balud Yakuru of the EYN from the captivity of the Islamic State in West African Province (ISWAP).

SPEECH OF THE NATIONAL COORDINATOR, PRAYER FORCE NETWORK, AMB JOHN POFI, JP, DURING A RECEPTION IN HONOUR OF REV. POLYCARP ZANGO WHO WAS JUST RELEASED BY INSURGENTS

Our esteemed ladies and gentlemen, you are all welcome to today’s event which is one in a million to receive one of our own whom like what the Holy Bible says was lost and now is found, and I said, he was dead but God raised him back to life.

My joy today knows no bounds because the contributions of the JOHN POFI FOUNDATION is beginning to yield positive results.

It may interest you to know that on the second of March, 2021, at the risk of being arrested by agents of the state, I wrote a strong worded open letter to the president and commander in chief of the federal republic of Nigeria for intervention and subsequent release of Rev. Zongo and Pastor Balud Yakuru of the EYN who was kidnapped in December, 2020.

The letter was published in several online media, apart from that I have met with prominent Nigerians and discussed this issue with them for instance the Executive Secretary, National Christian Pilgrims Commission, a fellow clergyman, Rev. Yakubu Pam who promised to see the governor to facilitate the release of particularly Rev. Zongo but as I speak with you, I have not heard from him.

The struggle has been quite frustrating as people who are supposed to assist were running away from engaging in the struggle to free this gentleman.

I must sincerely appreciate the Kalthum Foundation for Peace for its doggedness, courage, resilience and patriotism by standing in the gap to ensure that Rev. Zango is freed from his dangerous captors.

Kalthum Foundation for Peace and the famous John Pofi foundation have done their best and to the glory of God, no ransom was paid for the release of Rev. Zongo but his release was made possible through the strong, diplomatic persuading and convincing power of negotiations.

The federal and state governments have failed in this regard leaving their citizens to their fates, what a hopeless situation?

There is urgent need for the federal government to declare state of emergency in some parts of the country, look at what is currently happening in Plateau State, no day passes by without innocent people being killed in their ancestral homes, even yesterday, twelve persons were killed and many others injured in an unprovoked attacks.

All these are happening under the unable leadership of the so called chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum, Simon Bako Lalong who always claims closeness with the presidency which all of us know it always starts and ends by standing with the absent minded president for a photograph and that is all, because the accidental governor absolutely lacks the capacity to face the clueless president in the face and tell him exactly what is happening in his State.

From where will our help come oh Lord?
The leadership of our state and our country have done what the Holy Bible says, to your tents oh Israel. Every man for himself.

May God deliver us from this type of leadership and may we never see its type again in our life time.

I’m speaking today with great joy not only because the clergyman has regained sanity but because it gives me endless hope that despite the despairing nature of the security situation in the country, there is a little hope at the corner.

It therefore means there is hope for Leah Sharibu, there is hope for the one hundred and fifty kids that were abducted two weeks ago from the Salihu Tanko Islamiya School in Tegina, Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State some of whom are as young as three years, there is hope for Alice Ngaddah, there is hope for Grace Tuka, there is hope for Lilian Daniel Gyang, there is hope for Jummai Inuwa Saleh, there is hope so many others who are still languishing in captivity. There is hope, and there is hope for you and I whose daily safety is not assured, there is hope for everyone.

I thank you all for coming and to my lost but found brother, am absolutely sure you had earlier surrendered your life to go, but God is still in the business of miracles.

You need to rededicate more because you are as good as dead, but you have come back to life.

While family and friends were saying goodnight, God is saying you still have a lot to do for Him.

May you discover that immediately and hit the ground running fast.

You are welcome to the land of the living.

Thank you all for your patience.
