Reps speakership: North Central youths seek level playing field

A group, APC North Central Coalition, on Tuesday in Abuja, staged a solidarity rally to drum support for a House of Representative member, Mr. John Dyegh.
Dyegh, 56, representing Gboko/Tarka Federal constituency of Benue since 2011, is aspiring for the position of Speaker of the House.
The APC leadership, the presidency and APC governors have endorsed Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, representing Surulere Federal Constituency for the position.
The Dyegh supporters numbering almost hundred stormed the party national secretariat it in Abuja, calling for a level playing field for the contest.
Addressing the rally, spokesperson of the group, Mr Yakubu Usman, said there should be equity, fairness and justice in the election of leaders of the 9th House of Representatives.
The leader is Usman expressed displeasure over the current zoning formula, which he negated the principle of inclusiveness and equitable representation.
He enjoined the APC to zone the speakership to the North Central having secured the third largest number of votes in the last presidential election.
The spokesman said as a young man and three-time lawmaker, Dyegh has the energy, experience and zeal to provide quality leadership in the House.
“Hon. Dyegh and the entire North Central contributed immensely to the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari in the zone.
“So, we are calling on the National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to put our agitation into consideration,” Usman said.(NAN)
