REP. SIMON MWADKWON EMPOWER WIDOWS, ORPHANS AND PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED

In order to fulfill one of his campaign promises of developing the capacities of the vulnerable through strategic empowerment, the Member representing Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency Plateau State, Rep. Simon Mwadkwon distributed Grinding & Sewing Machines to 80 vulnerable persons from the Federal Constituency.

The beneficiaries were drawn across the various Wards in the Federal Constituency.

Speaking during the occasion, the Federal Lawmaker said the initiative was in fulfillment of the scripture which preaches care for those in need and in line with his campaign promise of assisting the less privileged.
He said having gone through violent attacks, the means of livelihood have been adversely affected hence the need to assist them.
He said the gesture which was the brainchild of his Wife is not unique but a way of demonstrating empathy to the less privileged.

The Lawmaker said the humanitarian gesture was meant to provide a steady stream of income that will assist the beneficiaries, their immediate families and dependents financially.

He said considering the negative impacts of the novel COVID-19 Pandemic, they thought it wise to assist the people to be financially and economically stable.

Rep. Simon Mwadkwon admonished the people to be agents of peace, embrace one another, display love at all times and shun violence as nothing meaningful can be achieved in a hostile environment.

Wife of the Federal Lawmakers, Mrs. Diana Mwadkwon said the idea is to identify with the vulnerable and give them a sense of belonging.
She urged them to display high maintenance culture and use the items for the target purpose.

The Member representing Riyom Constituency, Hon. Timothy Dantong applauded the Federal Lawmaker for the display of humanity and his pragmatic representation.
He lauded the uncommon achievements of the Legislator.
He urged the beneficiaries to put the items to profitable use.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke appreciated the Federal Lawmaker for identifying with them in their most trying moment and assisting them to be economically active.

They prayed God to provide more to him and promised to put the items to good use.

The event was well attended by the Directors, Coordinators of the Lawmakers and well wishers of the beneficiaries.
