Rep. Mwadkwon Mourns Plateau Youths Killed by Boko Haram, Says Plateau Indigenes Now Prime Targets

BOKO HARAM ABDUCTION AND KILLING OF PLATEAU PEOPLE POTENTS GREAT DANGER TO NATIONAL UNITY – REP. SIMON MWADKWON PH.D

Plateau people are well known for their peaceful and hospitable disposition.

I, Rep. Simon Mwadkwon Ph.D, on behalf of my family, the peace loving people of Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency condemn in the strongest possible terms the abduction and brutal killings of our youths. The act is senseless, barbaric, inhuman, wicked and should be condemned by meaningful Nigerians.

The abduction and killings by Boko Haram insurgents have taken a new dimension as Plateau State indigenes are now their prime targets.

In September, 2019, two innocent youths from Mangu LGA were brutally murdered in cold blood by Boko Haram.

December, 2019 saw four (4) Indigenes of the State being abducted by the dreaded group, one of which regain freedom after being rescued by security agencies (Miss Jennifer Ukambong Samuel, an Aid Worker).

We received with rude shock the execution of Mr. Ropvil Daciya Dapel, a Student of University of Maiduguri and indigene of Plateau State who was abducted on his way back to School after the festive season on 9th January, 2020.

As we speak, there are two others, Miss Lilian Gyang Daniel of Foron District Barkin Ladi LGA, Plateau State, a 100 Level Student of Zoology University of Maiduguri who was abducted alongside Late Ropvil Daciya and Mr. Bashir, a native of Kanam LGA, Plateau State a staff of Primary Health Care who was abducted since December, 2019 still in Boko Haram custody.

I wish to call on security agencies to put in place the needed efforts to secure their release.

There is also urgent need for security agencies to redouble their efforts and deploy more strategies toward combating the new tactics being used by the Insurgents to abduct their victims.

The unhealthy statements made by the Boko Haram Insurgents against Plateau State/its people before the execution of Late Ropvil Daciya and others earlier mentioned in the videos that emanated from the Insurgents is an attestation that Plateau State Indigenes are now being hunted to be annihilated by the dreaded Boko Haram Group.
I wish to call on all Plateau Indigenes to be more cautious and vigilant all the time and if possible discontinue traveling to Boko Haram hotbeds until security situation improves in the regions, this is because the regions have become deathtraps to our people.

I also call on all meaningful citizens of Plateau State to be more united and steadfast in prayers.

May God Almighty avenge the gruesome murder of our Youths. This is one death too many.

I sympathize and empathize with the families of those murdered and join my faith to pray for the release of those still on Boko Haram captivity.

May this never happen to any of us again.

May God heal our hearts, land and continue to protect us from evil men.
