The member representing Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency, Barr. Dr. Istifanus Dung Gyang popularly known as ID Gyang on Wednesday 5th September, 2018 submitted both his expression of interest and nomination forms for Senate Plateau North to the State Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party Yakubu Gowon Way Jos, Plateau State.
Rep. I. D. Gyang said he is ready to provide the Senatorial District with purposeful, visionary and effective leadership.
He promised to replicate his achievements in his Federal Constituency across the Senatorial District by bringing democratic dividends to the doorsteps of the people and giving quality leadership and people-centred programmes/Bills.
The event which started at his Campaign Office Situated at Last Gate Dadin Kowa Yakubu Gowon Way Jos, Plateau State was well attended and supported by party executives, stakeholders, youths, women, former Students’ Leaders, party loyalists and tribal associations from the Northern Zone who endorsed the aspiration and promised to work to see to the actualization.
They all eulogised the gigantic and people-oriented projects and programmes being carried out by the member which they said are bringing societal transformation.
Rep. I. D. Gyang appreciated God for using the people to give him the mandate that made him a national figure.
He said God has enable him to execute people-oriented projects and programmes.
He said the decamping of APC leaders and members has shown the lack of capacity to lead.
He said PDP has all it takes to return the nation to the path of progress.
He said the return of PDP on the Plateau State will guarantee greater development.
He said he is appreciative of the call by the Ward Executives on him to contest for the Senatorial seat after wide consultations with critical stakeholders.
He said the call to contest started from B/Ladi LGA, then Jos South, Jos East, Bassa, Jos North, Riyom LGAs and other tribal associations from the Senatorial Zone.
He said his ambition was to recontest for House of Representatives but the people saw that he is faithful in the little mandate given him and are convinced he would do better if supported to be Senator.
He said he has succumbed to the call by critical stakeholders and party Executives to contest for the Senate Seat.
Rep. I. D. Gyang said he is offering himself to represent the diverse and pluralistic Northern Zone to create a better environment for all to cohabit peacefully.
He said he is much aware of the heterogeneous nature of the Northern Senatorial District which has the largest population and the challenges confronting same including the overstretching of infrastructures. He said he is ready to change the narratives of ground for a better, stronger and greater environment.
He said he is ready to work in synergy with all those who will emerge from the Zone as Chairmen, State Assembly Members and Federal Legislators if elected as Senator to attract more friendly, safer and greater District for the common good of the masses.
He thanked the people to the supports and endorsement of his aspiration.
He said God is the Pilot of the project and he has handed over everything to Him for His supernatural Will.
Barr. I. D. Gyang promised not to disappoint the people if supported and given the Senatorial mandate.
He said he is committed to bringing more people-oriented projects and programmes within his remaining months at the House of Representatives.
Barr. I. D. Gyang said he is sure and very certain of victory at the primary and main elections seeing the massive supports and acceptability he is enjoying across the Senatorial District.
Director General of the Campaign Organization and Former PDP Local Government Chairman Bassa, Mr. Ayiki jacob Arushe described Barr. I. D. Gyang as an outstanding legislator, effective leader and a detribalized figure who is distinguishing himself and performing credibly well.
He said Barr. I. D. Gyang performance is remarkable and should be supported to be the Senator of the Northern District of Plateau State to bring more developmental infrastructures.
Mr. Arushe said Barr. I. D. Gyang deserves the Senatorial ticket considering his track records of rural and infrastructural transformation which would be replicated across the Senatorial District.
He called on the people to give him the much needed support.
A great Youth Leader and former SUG President ABU Zaria, Cmr. Joshua Wang, a Constituent from Riyom said he is very comfortable of Barr. I. D. Gyang developmental strides as the trust and confidence reposed on him is speaking and yielding positive results.
“We are very pleased of your performance and will not disappoint you during the Primary Election” Cmr. Joshua said.
Cmr. Wang said they need a sound, focused, visionary, vibrant, articulate and bold person as Senator. Someone who knows the rudiments of legislation and not someone who would have to learn the ropes of legislation. He said Rep. I. D. Gyang remains the best and represents the true interest of the people of Plateau North.

Former NANS, NAPSS, SUG and other School Leaders who spoke after the submission of the forms said Barr. I. D. Gyang is vocal, articulate and sound in is legislative engagements.
They said he has always spoken about their challenges, especially the security concern which has attracted both local and international attention and interest.
They prayed God to bless him with more wisdom and courage to continue protecting their interests.
Deputy State Chairman of the Party Hon. Amos Gombi who sat in for the Chairman to receive the Team said they are proud of the Aspirant, Barr. I. D. Gyang who has stood with the party all through the darkest moments and was supportive to it.
He said the gigantic and people-oriented projects are all across Barkin Ladi Riyom LGAs for all to attest to because they are visible even to the blind.
He wished Barr. I. D. Gyang the best at the Primaries and main elections.
Also with Barr. I. D. Gyang were officers of his Directorate and Local Government Coordinators across the Six Local Government Areas making up the Senatorial District.

7). AGRICULTURE RELATED.
a).Construction of Mini Water Ponds for Irrigation Farming at Woroh.
b). Provision and distribution of Water Pumps to farmers for Irrigation Farming.

8). HUMANITARIAN INTERVENTION.
a). Provision of assorted Food and Relief Materials to IDPs.
b). Initiated the construction of forty (40) Two Bedroom Bungallows to resettle persons displaced by violent attacks at Jol and Rawuru in conjunction with Development Partners.

a). Award of Sholarship to 300 Undergraduate and Postgraduate students in addition to several other intervention and assistance to students in payment of school and registration fees, exam fees, etc.
b). Sponsored a Medical Doctor to undergo a specialised course abroad.
c).. Provision snd donation of assorted Text Books to Secondary Schools.
c). Provision of 15 Desk Top Computers to enhance computer literacy.
10). SPORTS & YOUTH DEVELOPMENT.
a). Sponsored a local talented football player invited by a foreign club.
b). Co-sponsored a Peace Football Tournament with the Special Military Task Force codenamed Operation Safe Haven involving local teams from B/Ladi and Mangu LGs
c). Provided Track Suits and Jersey to local football teams.
d). Google Digital Skills Training For Youth Empowerment
e). Youth Employment vocational Skills Apprenticeship Scheme under the National Directorate Of Eploynent.
f). Employment generation for 55 youths in different fields and vocation.
