Rep. Dr. Simon Mwadkwon Sponsors 6 Bills Simultaneously Today at the National Assembly

In what could best be described as readiness for effective representation and quality legislation, the Member representing Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency, Rep. Dr. Simon Mwadkwon Fwet has today Thursday 4th July, 2019 impressively sponsored six (6) Bills at the House of Representatives.

The Bills which all are at first reading stage of legislation include the following;

  1. North Central Development Commission (Establishment) Bill, 2019 (HB.23),
  2. Local Industry Patronage Bill, 2019 (HB. 24),
  3. Crime and Criminal Tracking System Bill, 2019, (HB. 25),
  4. Anatomy Act (Amendment) Bill, 2019 (HB. 26),
  5. Marriage Act (Amendment) Bill, 2019 (HB. 27), and
  6. Casino Taxation Act (Amendment) Bill, 2019 (HB. 28).

The bill if passed into law, will achieve the following;

  1. The commission is capable of employing over 2500 people across the north central, there by checking the unemployment surge.
  2. The bill has the potential to develop our solid minerals sector particularly the mining sub component in Plateau State.
  3. The bill can address the revenue gaps of the region as compared to states enjoying the derivation formula in revenue allocation.
  4. The bill posses the potential to drive the Agribusiness with a farm- to- factory approach thereby improving productivity and reducing peasantry in Agricultural practice.
  5. It will support the restructuring efforts and agitation.

It will be recalled that Dr. Mwadkwon within the week raised a motion on the resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons in his Constituency and State at large while calling on the FG to rebuild public infrastructures destroyed by Killer Herdsmen in the 23rd June, 2018 in Gashish, Ropp, Foron and Bachi in Barkin Ladi and Riyom Local Government Areas of Plateau State.

He also urged on the Federal Government to urgently release the N10 billion direct intervention fund to the displaced persons pledged by the Vice President last year saying the IDPs are facing untold humanitarian crisis in the various displaced persons’ camps in the State.
