Rep. Dr. Golu Mourns Late Rinji, Asks OPSH to Produce Killers for Prosecution

GOLU ASKS OPERATION SAFE HAVEN TO PRODUCE KILLERS OF RINJI PETER BALA

A former Member of the National Assembly, Hon Dr Golu Timothy has called on the Commander of Operation Safe Haven to identify, arrest and handover for prosecution, the security personnel who allegedly killed a 300 level student of the University of Jos, Mr Rinji Peter Bala. He said the Commander should  immediately produce the blood thirsty men to face the full wrath of the law, saying that it is primitivity, barbarism and reckless abandon taken too far.

In a statement issued in Jos, Golu condemned in strong terms the brutal killing of the undergraduate and described as inhuman, insensitive and callous the action of the armed officials who are expected to protect the people instead of snuffing their lives, calling for their immediate arrest and prosecution. He adviced  the OPSH authorities not to attempt to cover the culprits  as that would aggravate the already tensed and militarized atmosphere.

While sympathising with the family of Nde Peter Bala, Golu called on the State Governor, Rt Hon Simon Bako Lalong and the Plateau State Police Commissioner to intervene so that no one will protect the accused and shield them from  arrest and prosecution. The action of the men, he added, is capable of eroding public confidence in the security especially in times like this when they have been deployed to most communities across the state to provide security for lives and property.

He condoled with the family of Nde Peter, the  Gungji community in Kanke LGA and the Ngas Youth Movement over the painful incident and prayed God Almighty to grant eternal and peaceful rest to the soul of Rinji.
