Rep. Dachung Bagos’s bill to amend the Nigerian Postal Service Act, cap N127 passes second reading

At the plenary session of 18th March, 2020 at the floor of the Nigeria House of Representatives, Rep. Dachung Bagos’s bill to Amend the Nigerian Postal Service Act, Cap. N127, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 to Provide for the payment of all monies received by the Service into the Federation Account in accordance with Section 162 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 passes second reading.

Leading the debate Rep. Bagos stated that the Bill seeks to amend the Nigerian postal service Act to ensure the strict adherence to the law of the land concerning the remittance of monies from the postal service to the federation account, this he stated complies with the Nigerian constitution as amended. In practice, however, he stated that a certain provision of the postal service Act (Section 52) is in contradiction with this provision of the constitution (Section 162) as there is no complete remittance of monies to the Federation Accounts and the Bill seeks to correct this abnormally.

It passed the second reading which was seconded by Rep. Danjuma Shiddi Member representing Wukari/Ibi Federal Constituency.
