Rep. Bagos Bill on NERDC Voted on and Passed for Second Reading

The Bill for an Act to Amend the Nigerian Education Research and Development Council Act, Cap. N105, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004; and for Related Matters (HB. 84) sponsored by Hon. Dachung Bagos has scaled to Second Reading at the National Assembly.

After the first reading, the bill was presented by the presiding Officer, Rep. Idris Ahmed to the green chamber during the plenary of Thursday 7th November, 2019.

In the ​​​​​Debate, Rep. Bagos moved for the second reading of the Bill and it was seconded by Rep. Okwodili Christopher. In leading the debate Rep. Bagos stated that the Bill seeks the amendment for the purpose of bringing the Act into conformity with the realities of the international standards for the educational sector. This he stated would benefit all Nigerians.

The Bill was voted on, Passed for second reading, the Clerk read the long title and it was referred to the committee on basic education and services.

The plenary was presided by the Deputy Speaker of the House, Rep. Ahmed Idris Wase.
