RE: LANGTANG NORTH APC LEADERSHIP, STAKEHOLDERS AND ELDERS DISSOCIATE SELVES FROM UNGODLY MEETING

We have read with great amusement a skewed and lazy piece of write-up issued [with the above headline] in the social media- supposedly as a response to a communique published at the end of our meeting of 25th July, 2020. Ordinarily, we would have ignored the scathing piece and treat it as mere junk that was curiously assembled to massage the fading ego of the authors since they pathetically failed, both in material and substance to address the basic issues raised in the said communique.

Our impression has also been awakened to the fact that the authors of the piece under interrogation are hunted by deficit of language and logic in argument and failed woefully therefore, to understand the content and purpose of that communique. Their limitations on this note, should have ordinarily deprived them of any dignified reply from us, but for the compelling need for us to put the records straight and also rebuke their void attempt to discredit elders and vital stakeholders that issued the communique.

This reply should also remind the authors and their sponsors of the tragedy of Icarus, the zealous son of Daedalus in Greek methodology who ignored the warning of his father not to use his borrowed feathers that were stuck together with wax to attempt to fly high above his limit and get close to the sun and risk melting the wax in the scourging sun; or flying below measurement to touch the sea and soak the wax in water and dismantle the artificial feathers neither. His duty thus required the light of self- knowledge and balance; equilibrium, self-effacement and necessary compromise to stay relevant. Unguardedly, and out of mere excitement, Icarus flew close to the sun, and the wax melted and the borrowed feathers fell apart and he landed into the deep sea beyond rescue and lost his life to pride and pernicious zeal.

For the purpose of clarity, let us state that three issues raised in our communique were relevant, critical and of great concern to the peaceful and harmonious coexistence of the APC in Tarokland. These include: (i) The challenges confronting the growth and performance of APC in Tarokland (ii) The activities of some politicians who have elected themselves to take decisions on behalf of members in Tarokland. Their activities, if left unchecked, the communique argued, will provoke an explicit clash of interest among members and polarize the party (iii). The unfortunate demise of Sen. Ignatius Longjan, the politics of getting his successor and the need for the Tarokland nation to contest for the vacant position.

Any serious party member that has strong inclination for the progress of Tarokland would applause these vital issues and commend those that conceived them. It is also important to note that at the last stakeholders meeting in Langtang North Party Office, attended by the LGA Chairman and all his Exco, it was unanimously resolved that since the Southern Senatorial Seat was not zoned to any Local Government Area in the,  Tarok sons and daughters of the party should be encouraged to contest.

But rather than address the aforementioned issues as raised in the communique, the group decided to dwell on mundane issues and to portray themselves as a case study in the danger of trivialities; and as merchants of intuition, and worst still, as a group of dilettante desperados that can only play to the gallery with little inklings of dictating worst political impulses around them and to proffer solutions.

We should further wish to state unequivocally that the LGAs party Chairmen in Tarokland, all relevant stakeholders, political appointees were invited to all our meetings. Some of them were in attendance while those that did not attend sent in their apology. Mr. Sarawak Daniel (Sari), the APC chairman of Langtang North LGA was ably represented by the LGA Auditor in the meetings. This can be verified by the attendance register of the meetings. The Chairman of the APC Wards Chairmen Forum and Chairman of Jat Ward did not only attend all the meetings but also contributed extensively to the discourse and offered vital suggestions.

In the same vein, Mr. Selchang Yusuf, who surprisingly signed as secretary of the group had ironically[also] sent his apology and reason for his inability to attend the elders’ meeting in Langtang. For these same characters to allow themselves to be used as pawns in the hands of others afterwards, is to say the least, contradictory, disdainful, callous and above all, an act of trivial cowardice and subtle betrayal.

Curiously also, Mr. Geoffrey, the undertaker in the new drama has never been known at any time as the Chairman of Tarok APC Elders’ Forum and will never ascend that position in the near future, considering his antecedence and penchant for brewing contradictions. The actual motive for which he was invited to represent the elders in Jos at a meeting, earlier convened by a group, instead of Baba Burkat Zhattau the leader of the Elders Forum, is now getting clear as an act of desperation for the wrong reason.

The authors of the so-called rejoinder to our communique and their sponsors also know the limit of their new jokes and the fact that they cannot remove someone of Mr. Burkat Zhattau’s standing and history in the party. For the APC Chairman in Langtang North, Mr. Sargwak Daniel to claim ignorance of the meeting that produced the communique is to justify the much-touted impression that he can easily be induced financially to betray a worthy cause and to dance nakedly to the tune of music supplied by his sponsors as the popular saying has it that he who pays the piper dictates the tune. This tendency in him is perhaps responsible for why converted the Peugeot 505 Station Wagon donated to the party in Langtang North by the former Commissioner of Water Resources, Engr. Ja’afaru Wuyep into his personal transportation company. His involvement in party issues and that of the leader of the party in Langtang North LGA should be geared towards building the party in Tarokland to ensure victory and not dissipating energy to dissolve existing party structures and to promote politics of self- aggrandizement. The Tarok nation will never accept this.

The content and reason for the communique produced at the end of the meeting of 25th July, 2020 are thus sacrosanct and must never be trivialized by any individual or group.

Those nursing the ambition of dissolving the Elders Forum of the party under Baba Burkat should therefore be guided by the adventure of Icarus and his ugly history; and should also note the resolve of our people to stand by the content of that communique and most importantly work for the resurgence of APC in Tarok land and also present a candidate for the forth coming senatorial bye election.
