PSIRS to Attain N2.5bn Monthly Revenue Target – Dashe Arlat

The Executive Chairman of the Plateau State Internal Revenue Service (PSIRS), Mr. Dashe Arlat has reiterated the Service’s readiness to attain the marching order given by Governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau State to generate N2.5 billion monthly in the state.
Mr. Arlat stated this in a chart with NewsCrest Newspaper in Jos recently.

He said that the PSIRS was poised towards actualizing sustainable economic rebirth through sensitizing taxable members of the society to pay their taxes at all times.
He encouraged tax payers to ensure that they perform their civic responsibility for developmental stride of the state.

On achievements of the Service, One Hundred Days in Office of Governor Lalong, Mr. Arlat disclosed that the Revenue Service has generated over N10 billion from January to July 2019.

The chairman noted that the Revenue Service within the one hundred days in office of Governor Lalong, his organization has embarked on tax education and has also engaged Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs) transporters, local government, financial institutions and the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in series of meetings aimed at generating revenue accruable to government for socio-economic development of the state.

Mr. Arlat also took his time to explain the reason why people should pay their taxes in order to enjoy the developmental stride of the government and to obtain tax clearance certificate which would enable them to equally obtain loan from Banks without hitches.
He revealed that revenue were also generated through fees, fines as well as Pay as You Earn (PAYE), stressing that such revenues were yielding positive results and applauded Governor Lalong for completing some of the abandoned road projects and new more road projects across the state.

He further explained that some of the benefits of paying tax include building schools, water supply, roads construction and the provision of security to citizenry among others.
Mr. Arlat implored citizens not to see revenue collected by other taxable machinery as multiple taxation but collaborative efforts towards achieving the desired goal.

The chairman commended Governor Lalong for providing a level playing ground for his organization for harmonizing revenue issues that affects revenue collections without hitches.

While reiterating the commitment of the revenue service towards ensuring that all revenues were taped and collected, Mr. Arlat disclosed that 15 vehicles were purchased and zonal offices were also created in order to boost the revenue profile of the state.
