Professor Sheni, Immediate past VC of Plateau Varsity bags two awards for his outstanding performance

Students Union Government SUG of the Plateau state University Bokkos yesterday lauded the immediate past vice Chancellor of the institution Professor Danjuma Sheni for his efforts at transforming the institution during his tenure .
Our correspondent reports that Professor Sheni was presented with two awards for his outstanding performances one from the SUG and the other award from the United Nations Youth Assembly .
Speaking at the occasion at the weekend The President, Students’ Union Government, Plateau State University Bokkos Comrade Izang Ajik Dogo said the immediate past vice Chancellor did a lot in transforming the institution and deserves the awards .
He said this is the first time they have decided to present an award and it was due to the cordial relationship that existed between Professor Sheni and the SUG and also the outstanding transformation that took place during the immediate past vice Chancellor, s tenure
The union leader said that on assumption of office the immediate past vice Chancellor Plateau State University , Bokkos Professor Sheni employed 413 staff and sent another 64 abroad for Ph .D programmes in various fields .
He said “When he took over as Vice- Chancellor eight years ago , there were only 93 staff , both academic and non -academic , most of whom were visiting staff .
“But today , the institution has 413 staff , both academic and non – academic, with 64 of them sent abroad for their Ph .D programmes .
“They are in the different universities , including those in South Africa , Malaysia , Uganda, UK and USA which entered into Memorandum of Understanding with them .
“This gave birth to the accreditation of 17 of our academic programmes in 2016 by National University Commission , boosting our academic activities and performances as a young university, ’
He expressed joy that most of the 64 staff who left the shores of Nigeria had returned , to improve performances in the institution .
The immediate past vice Chancellor of the institution Professor Sheni in his speech thanked the SUG and the United Nations Youth Assembly for the awards and promised to continue to contribute to the development of Plateau and the Nation at large
