Professor Wannang today takes over as the First Substantive Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Education. In a historic milestone for Nigerian teacher education, the newly appointed first substantive Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Education, Pankshin (FUEP), Professor Noel Nen’man Wannang, has officially addressed the institution, outlining a transformative roadmap for its new university status.

Following his appointment by the Governing Council in late 2025, Professor Wannang assumed office today succeeding the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jere Ndazhaga.
His tenure marks the beginning of a new chapter for the institution, which was recently upgraded from a College of Education to a full-fledged Federal University.
In the Vice Chancellor address, Professor Wannang emphasized three core pillars for his administration:Academic Excellence and Research: Leveraging his background in Pharmacology and Toxicology, the Vice Chancellor pledged to elevate the university’s research output and ensure that pedagogical standards meet global benchmarks
He acknowledged the critical phase of transition and assured the university community of his commitment to securing the necessary federal grants to modernize campus facilities.

Recognizing the support previously shown to the interim leadership, Wannang promised a collaborative environment, focusing on capacity building for both academic and non-academic staff.
The appointment has been met with widespread optimism across stakeholders in the University and the pankshin, Kanke Kanam community noting that Wannang’s experience at the University of Jos and his international academic standing provide the necessary “substance” to lead the institution’s pioneering years.
