For the vulnerable and the indigent, access to specialized medical care often remains a distant, unattainable dream. However, a recent free medical outreach sponsored by the APC national Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda has emerged as a critical lifeline, wiping out multi-million Naira medical debts and physically transforming the lives of dozens of beneficiaries who had long given up hope.

THE APC NATIONAL CHAIRMAN,during his visit to JUTH, where he commended the incredible medical team for their dedication to the ongoing free medical outreach.
The initiative focused on highly complex and costly procedures, including hip replacements, knee replacements, and life-changing fibroid operations. This special report by viewpointNigeria’s citizen reporter D.M Long’gul captures the profound testimonials from patients at the receiving end of this massive humanitarian gesture.
The Burden of Bills Lifted
many beneficiaries shared harrowing accounts of years spent seeking help, only to be turned away by the crushing costs of their treatments.Husseini Abba, a resident of Kaduna State, spoke directly from his hospital bed at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), having just undergone a successful surgery for severe Osteoarthritis. His relief was palpable.
“I have been battling with this issue of osteoarthritis since last year, November. I’ve visited several hospitals, and the cost for all the surgeries for the arthritis, they are telling me, is about N2.5 million. This money is beyond my power, my family, they cannot be able to handle the bills. So, it reached the point that we just left everything to God. But one faithful day, we heard about the free outreach that Dr. Nentawe did. We are one of the people that were opportune. I truly don’t know what to say to him except to thank him and pray to God to continue to bless him.“
Similarly, Khadija Adam Ayuba from Anguwan Rogo, whose successful hip replacement was sponsored by the outreach, detailed her years of struggle.
“Two years back, they told me the procedure would be N3 million… then later revised to N2.5 million. Then we heard the good news that Nentawe had taken over the responsibility for the surgery for free,” Khadija recounted. “I have never heard of anyone, not even from different states, taking this kind of responsibility for a patient. I saw it here for the first time. May God grant him long life and continue to open doors for him.”
A Return to Life and Confidence
For those whose physical ailments had stripped them of their dignity and self-confidence, the healing process represents a new beginning.Glory Richard, a resident of Jos, had been suffering from fibroids for eight long years, unable to afford the necessary surgery.
“It was just because of money that made me not to do the surgery,” she confessed, her voice filled with emotion. “I was opportune to join, to be among those that will go for the surgery. I really thank God for that, and the surgery, they did it successfully. God used him for humanity to help a lot. God will replenish the money in a millionfold in the name of Jesus.”
Fatima Musa highlighted the emotional burden lifted by the outreach. Her long-term illness had been “shrinking” her, causing her to lose courage.”I just want to say thank you to Nentawe, thank you to the team that brought this privilege for us to be among those that will be healed. You have helped bring back our courage and confidence. We can’t pay you, but God bless him and increase his work.”
Finally, Jonathan Luka Iyelbshak, who received treatment for complications arising from an accident years ago, shared a heartfelt desire:
“My prayer is that God should protect him for us, and I desire that I should see him in person so that I should be able to say thank you.”
The outreach stands as a testament to the power of targeted, large-scale medical philanthropy, providing not just treatment, but also genuine hope to the vulnerable communities in Plateau State and beyond.
