In alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive, Hon. Nentawe Yilwatda, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, promptly acted to facilitate the release of minors who were detained during the protests in Kano and Kaduna states. On his first complete day in office, Minister Yilwatda appeared personally in the Federal High Court alongside the Minister of State, advocating for an accelerated hearing that resulted in the unconditional release of the detained youths.

This rapid response from the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs highlights Yilwatda’s commitment to safeguarding vulnerable populations and ensuring justice for the affected youth. Acknowledging the significance of supporting these minors beyond their release, Yilwatda has collaborated with UNICEF to document each case, focusing on assisting the minors in their reintegration and return to educational pursuits.

Minister Yilwatda conveyed his gratitude for President Tinubu’s emphasis on humanitarian issues, especially in relation to youth welfare. “Our Ministry is dedicated to protecting the future of every young citizen and ensuring that no child is overlooked,” Yilwatda asserted. This initiative signifies the onset of his administration’s proactive stance toward humanitarian assistance and youth empowerment under President Tinubu’s guidance.
