For contributions and commitments to saving little hearts, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Plateau State Specialist Hospital Jos, Professor Christopher Sabo Yilgwan has been honoured with a Saving the Little Hearts Award at Four-Point Lagos on Saturday 25th May, 2024 by the Hospital For Humanity, a Nonprofit Organization registered in the United States and Nigeria at its “Saving Little Hearts Gala”
While presenting the award the Chief Executive Officer (CEO)/Founder of Hospitals for Humanity, Dr. Segun Ajayi disclosed that the Award was to honour Professor Yilgwan’s long commitment to saving little hearts with Hospitals for Humanity.
He applauded the impressive commitment and expertise of Professor Christopher Yilgwan in clinical and perinatal research, as well as his passion for public health.
In his words “As a clinical Cardiologist, your continued impact to the lives of patients, students and colleagues at home and abroad is noteworthy”
He highlighted the cardinal focus of Hospitals for Humanity which is to decrease barriers to healthcare for people living in resource constrained environment by leveraging innovative and focused partnerships.
He further stated that they have collaborated with Nigerian Hospitals to provide open heart corrective surgeries to children born with congenital cardiac defects.
While receiving the Award, Professor Christopher Yilgwan appreciated the Organization for finding him worthy to be honoured and said the Award will spur him to do more towards improving public health.
He dedicated the Award to God and promises to inject more efforts toward enhancing the quality of healthcare services.
