Jethro Ngusen, the key Suspect alleged to have masterminded the kidnap and eventual killing of Pa Dariye Dafwan, father to former Governor of Plateau State and former Senator Plateau Central who was remanded at the Jos Correctional Facility has been arrested by personnel of the Nigerian Police at the Bank where he was alleged to have gone to make withdrawals.
The Plateau State Ministry of Justice has written the Divisional Police “A” Division Plateau State Police Command requesting an investigation on status report of Jethro Ngusen an Inmate remanded in the Jos Custodial Centre of the Nigerian Correctional Service who was alleged to have been arrested by the personnel of the Nigerian Police in the Bank where he went for transaction.
The Ministry hinted that the Inmate, Ya’u Saidu who is also known as “Ya’u Kabau” and six (6) others are undergoing prosecution in charge No. PLD/203c/2021 for offences of criminal conspiracy, kidnapping and murder, in the Plateau State High Court of Justice siting at West of Mines Jos before Justice G. D. Fwomyon.
In a petitioned dated 15th August, 2023 addressed to the Divisional Police Officer “A” Division by the Assistant Director Citizens’ Rights and Law Reform Plateau State Ministry of Justice, Barr. J. I. Mantu said the Defendants have been remanded at the Jos Custodial Centre of the Nigerian Correctional Service pending trial following the order of the Court to that effect.
Barr. Mantu said “According to the information available to the Ministry, Jethro Ngusen, an Inmate remanded in custody of the Jos Correctional Centre was arrest by your Officers on the 31st July, 2023 in a Bank when he went to withdraw money and the attention of your Division was drawn to that fact from the Bank, leading to his arrest by your officer.
He disclosed that the situation has raised serious concerns about the potential escape, compromise, misuse of privileged and unauthorized activities in light of criminal conspiracy, kidnapping and murder of Pa Dariye against the Defendants.
The Ministry is therefore requesting the Nigerian Police to furnish it with an update on the current status of the investigation into Jethro Ngusen’s activities at the Bank, the charge or First Information Report (F.I.R) that has been filed against Jethro Ngusen as a result of his presence at the Bank and having escaped from the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Service as well as all available evidence, statements, or documentation related to the incident at the Bank.
The Nigerian Police was also requested to furnish the Ministry with information about any legal proceedings, court appearances, or hearings scheduled for Jethro Ngusen in connection with this given incident and his where about and if granted bail the particulars of his sureties.
It will be recalled that in September, 2021, Jethro Ngusen, Ya’u Saidu and six others were apprehended by the Police in connection with the kidnap and murder of the 92 year old Pa Dariye Dafwan.
The Deceased was kidnapped and murdered by the Kidnappers despite the payment of N10 million as ransom.
