Abduction of Jay FM Journalist, Ferdinand Mbum by APC Thugs in Plateau State: Governor Lalong Should Sack Pius Henwan.
25th March, 2018.
Plateau PDP Youth Vanguard for Grassroots Mobilisation (PPYV4GM) condemns the abduction of Mr. Ferdinand Mbum who works with Jay FM by thugs of the APC in Plateau State led by Mallam Audu the Chairman of Plateau United Supporters Club on the orders of Pius Henwan, the Chairman of Plateau United Football Club, Jos.
The group notes that Nigeria is a democratic State and not a Banana Republic, as such differences should be settled within the confines of the law.
The role the media in Nigeria has played especially events leading to the democracy we all are enjoying cannot be overemphasized. Attempts to gag the media or intimidate members of the press is barbaric, uncivilized, and a cowardly route as the truth can never be sequestered.
Ferdinand Mbum was abducted in the premises of Jay FM where he was beaten, bundled into a campaign vehicle of Governor Lalong and then taken to the police station. This leaves one to wonder when thugs became law enforcement officers.
The crime of Ferdinand Mbum was exposing the fraud and corruption taking place in Plateau United Football Club which has become part and parcel of the Governor Lalong led administration in the State.
Plateau people are known to be peaceful, loving, industrious and most importantly we are not known for Gestapo style Governance or politics. We strongly condemn this new trend that is alien to us.
Differences in thoughts, opinions and otherwise should not rob us of the true Plateau spirit which regrettably is what the APC in the State has imported.
The action of Mr. Pius Henwan is not only criminal and condemnable but has brought to disrepute the Government and good people of Plateau State. As a group, we call on Governor Lalong to dissociate his Government from this abduction saga by relieving Mr. Pius Henwan of his job as Chairman of Plateau United Football Club.
We also intend writing a petition to the Plateau State House of Assembly. Those who exhibit criminal tendencies should not and must never be allowed to hold positions of public importance.
Signed.
