The Chairman of the Imo State COVID-19 Taskforce, Professor Maurice Iwu, has said that a woman, who recently delivered a set of twins has died of coronavirus in the state.
Iwu, disclosed this to newsmen on Monday, stating that the woman had tested positive for the virus a few days ago and was admitted into the state isolation center.
According to him, she was delivered of a set of twins but after delivery, she died, leaving behind her babies who fortunately tested negative for the novel coronavirus.
He also urged residents of the state to stop believing and spreading rumors that the virus is not real.
He further advised them to ensure that they take all precautionary measures to prevent themselves from contracting the virus.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, on Sunday, confirmed 403 new cases of the viral infection in the country.
According to the NCDC, Imo state recorded one new case, bringing the total of confirmed cases of the virus in the state to 136.
