Polycarp Auta, Agada Okopi, John Ferinola, Others Emerge New Leaders of NUJ Correspondents Chapel Plateau State

The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Correspondents Chapel in Plateau State today went to the poll to elect Leaders who will pilot its affairs for the next three (3) Years.


The elections which commenced in the early hours of today saw Polycarp Auta of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) emerging Chairman of the Union with 19 votes while Pam Musa of New Telegraph secured 17 votes with Francis Douglas getting 12 Votes in the keenly contested Chairmanship Election.
The Office of the Vice Chairman was won by Agada Okopi of TVC who got 32 Votes while his opponent Bilkisu Bakut of FRCN securing 17 Votes. John Ferinola of Channels emerged Secretary with 26 Votes while Jude Dangwam of Daily Asset who pulled 20 votes.


Others who emerged unchallenged are Marie-theresa Naanlong as Assistant Secretary and Omolola Bello who clinched the Financial Secretary position. The office of the Treasurer and Auditor are vacant and will be occupied as soon as the new leadership hold elections to fill them.
The outcomes of the elections were declared by the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Tongna’aan Bawa and the newly elected Executives were immediately sworn in by Barr. John Tsok.


Speaking shortly after their Inauguration, the New Chairman, Polycarp Auta appreciated his colleagues for finding him worthy to steer the affairs of the Union saying he will not fail them. He called on those who contest along with him to join hands with him in order for the union to succeed.
