News at ViewPointNigeria’s desk indicates that governor Simon Lalong has empowered 2,889 women and youths in Plateau State, through the Simon Lalong Entrepreneurship Scheme (SLES). The program is aimed at fighting poverty.
Governor Lalong, who presented starter packs to some of the trainees that participated in the four-month Simon Lalong Entrepreneurship Scheme, SLES, skills training organized through Plateau State Microfinance and Development Agency, PLASMEDA, in partnership with Apurimac Nigeria and Jos Entrepreneurship Academy, urged the beneficiaries to contribute their quota in growing the business industry in the state.
He directed PLASMEDA to ensure that 200 persons per council were trained in three batches in the next phases of the project.
Earlier, the Country Director, Apurimac Nigeria, Godwin Okoko, said 10,000 persons applied for the training, but that 2,889, comprising of 55 percent women and 45 percent youths, were picked.
