Plateau State governor, Simon Lalong has appointed new special assistants from the 17 local government areas of the state. Our correspondent gathered that the new appointees were to serve as political field officers.

The appointment letter which was made available to our correspondent came from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the State and stated that the appointees wwould be entitled to an annual basic salary of N198,300 as well as the service of two domestic servants and free accommodation.

The letter, however, explained that any of them who chose to stay in his personal house would be entitled to a rent at 20 percent of their annual basic salary. The director of Press and Public Affairs to the governor, Samuel Emmanuel Nanle who confirmed the appointments said the special assistants were appointed at large and stressed that 10 persons were selected from each of the local governments while cosmopolitan local governments had representations based on the various wards.
