The Plateau State government said yesterday that it is not collecting internally generated revenue in cash as speculated.
Acting Chairman, Plateau State Internal Revenue Service (PSIRS), Mr Dashe Arlat, told journalists in Jos that taxes and other payments are still collected electronically through designated banks.
According to Arlat, all tax payers must obtain their Tax Identification Number (TIN) to enable them make payments.
He said all local government stakeholders have been warned against cash collection, as a way of discouraging embezzlement.
The acting chairman also said the service was out to ensure that its monthly collection increased to boost the revenue base.
