Former President of Plateau Youth Alliance, Comrade Prince Miaphen has been presented with the Meritorious Award of Excellence as ICON OF HOPE by the National Association of Shendam Advanced Level Students (SALSA) .
Our correspondent reports that Prince Miaphen was presented the award by the body in Shendam local government council of Plateau state on Saturday.
Miaphen, a former Vice President (External Affairs) of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) who spoke to our correspondent said “I had the honour of attending the event hosted by the National Association of Shendam Advanced Level Students (SALSA), themed “Prevalence of Gender-Based Violence and Teenage Pregnancy.”
He said ” In my remarks, I spoke strongly against gender-based violence and teenage pregnancy, encouraging our younger generation to steer clear of acts that could derail their future.”
“I also urged them to speak out when confronted with such challenges, as silence only deepens the harm.”
Miaphen also cautioned youths against being used as instruments of political unrest by politicians.
In his words “As a former two-time National President of SALSA and sponsor of the event, I supported the organizers with a token of half a million naira, as a gesture of encouragement to sustain their noble cause.
Prince Miaphen also said the highlight of the day was the surprise presentation of the Meritorious Award of Excellence as ICON OF HOPE graciously bestowed upon me by the SALSA leadership.
This recognition was in appreciation of my selfless service, unwavering support, and continued contribution to youth development, as well as my exemplary commitment to restoring the dignity and purpose of the SALSA legacy.
I say a very big thank you to SALSA for the recognition and celebration.
This prestigious award is a motivation to continue to strive and contribute towards the betterment of the Community, State and Nation at Large, together we will achieve even greater milestones in the realm of youth empowerment and development, he added .
