OPEN LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT AND COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF OF THE ARMED FORCES OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA ON INCESSANT KILLINGS AND STATE OF INSECURITY IN PLATEAU STATE

Your Execellency sir,

The basic responsibilities of government include protection of lives and property of the citizens, attending to the critical welfare needs of the people, fairness, social justice, equity and fairness.
These are critical components upon which strong nations are built.

Mr. President Sir, It has become highly necessary to write you this open letter owing to the unabated attacks, insurgency and killings of innocent Nigerians in Plateau State with impunity by wicked, inhuman and irrational people who feels they supersedes the law of the Federal Republic Nigeria.

Our State and National Security is under threat, our people under siege by people who never meant well for the Country.

The painful and more pathetic aspect of the situation despite heavy presence of security check points the killers are always not arrested talk more of persecuted.

Urgent steps must be taken and the political will put in place to tackle the insecurity headlong.

It is also sad that innocent Nigerians are now more vulnerable as government has failed in its responsibility of protecting them.

We are being confronted with daily killings by allerge Herdsmen who attack, maim, sack and takeover villages of natives, an indication of ethnic cleansing through planned genocides.

The continuous and fresh attacks in Plateau, Benue, Taraba, Edo, Kogi, Yobe, Adamawa, Borno and other States of the Federation are disheartening and calls for immediate attention.

So far in Riyom and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas, some of the underlisted villages have been sacked and forcefully taken over by the attackers:

Riyom LGA:
1. Rankum (Mahanga)

2. Fass

3. Loton

4. Rot Chun (Rafin Acha)

5. Darin

6. Gwon

7. Shong 1

8. Shong 2

9. Maseh

10. Janda

11. Rakweng

12. Kak

13. Nangam

14. Nincha

15. Taballeng

16. Wull

17. Rachos

18. Rachot

Barkin Ladi LGA:

19. Rahol Mazar

20. Rakwok

21. Vatt

22. Kungot

23. Zakupang

24. Dorong

25. Rubong

26. Udeh

27. Fanzat

28. Zim

29. Jong

30. Shurum

31. Loh-Birin

34. Khai/Kiokwo

40. Hyai

Of recent, on the 8th of April 2018 six people were killed in Nding village of Barkin Ladi local government of Plateau State, you will recall that the people of Bassa and Bokkos local Government in Plateau State have been under attacks with homes and villages razed down, lives in hundreds lost. Even on the day you visited Plateau State to launch the road map to peace attacks where ongoing in Dafo of Bokkos local government without a word of the attacked mentioned to you at the town hall meeting.

Sir, It is therefore a call on you to use your reputable office and as a father of all to reverse the situation, since you once said you belong to everybody and belong to nobody.

Our prayers:

1. An overhaul of the security agencies in order to be more proactive, professional and display integrity and probity.

2. Strengthening and empowering of Community Vigilante Groups to serve as compliments to the existing, overstretched and overwhelmed security.

3. Reclaim all lands belonging to natives which were forcefully taken over in the name of conquest as claimed and now occupied by the attackers.

4. Reconstruction, rehabilitation and resettlement of destroyed villages to regain the confidence and trust of the people. This will make natives go back to their villages and start lives again.

5. Support the enactment of Open Grazing Prohibition Laws and the operations of Privately self sponsored-owned Ranches by all livestock owners.

5. The need to demonstrate political will by dealing decisively with the killers by arresting and prosecuting the killers to serve as deterrent to others.

6. We want all military and humanitarian interventions accorded the North West and North East be repleted to the North Central and other parts of Nigeria. This is because special attention in terms of the mentioned interventions are given to other geopolitical zones while others are ignored. A situation that clearly depicts social injustice.

7. Machinenaries to be put in place to commence the establishment of State Police

We will be grateful if the mentioned prayers are given accelerated attention.

We wish you the very best as you pilot the affairs of our great nation.

Long live Plateau State

Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria
