The Group, Plateau Youth G-17 Peace and Progressive Forum today 5th Novemember, 2017 presented a citizen’s Bill on Ban to Open Grazing to the Plateau State House of Assembly.
Members of the group and supporters all across the State were warmly received by the Honorable Speaker Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Peter Azi, other Principal Officers and legislators.
The Leader of the Group, Mr. Dachung Bagos said the Bill became imperative following the spate of killings in the State and opined the Bill is aimed at ensuring a peaceful and safer State.
He said the Bill seek to protect farmers against continuous attacks by suspected herdsmen and also to ensure that animals are safe.
The Speaker thanked the group for being peaceful, constructive and civil in their advocacy. He further said the House will look into their submission.
A Youth Activist and Philanthropist, Mr. Satmak Dapar when contacted to share his view on the submission of the Bill to the State Assembly commended the group by saying the group had a date with history. “The presentation of the bill is a welcome development. G17 as a group has demonstrated once again that the voices of youths are not death. This development has rekindled hope and created an opportunity for peace to stage a come back on the Plateau. Plateau state House of Assembly should urgently work and pass the Bill. G17 has a date with history and I believe our collective effort in redefining the future of Plateau would count in all ramifications”
Mr. Sam Bot Logwoms on his part congratulated the group saying their efforts are good and commendable to liberate the people of Plateau State from the chains and evil of ingrate immigrants.
Ishaya Monday said he is strongly in support of the ban on open grazing in Plateau State.
