All is set for the maiden edition of the Mangu Leadership Awards scheduled to hold on August 10th at the Shangtong Event Centre in Mangu local government area. The Awards which is packaged by Plateau Watch Media Group, was conceptualized to recognise and celebrate inspirational leaders who are role models and have impacted on the lives of the people of the Mangu local council.
According to the CEO of Plateau Watch Media Group, Isaac Dachen, “the rationale behind the Mangu Leadership Awards is to recognize and celebrate illustrious sons and daughters of Mangu land who have contributed to the growth and development of the land.”
He added that the Awards will also “serve as a means of encouraging others in community and capacity building and to celebrate as well as acknowledge their contributions to the upliftment of the Mangu community.”
“The main aim of the Mangu Leadership Awards is to recognize and celebrate illustrious sons and daughters of Mangu Kingdom who have contributed to the growth and development of the land. “It is also meant to encourage others in community and capacity building as well as to celebrate and acknowledge their contributions to the upliftment of the Mangu community.”
Awardees were nominated in an online poll by indigenes of Mangu Kingdom and following a rigorous and thorough review of the nominees, we had to settle for them. That does not mean that others are less worthy but in every contest, there must always be front line winners.
“The Awards will be an annual event which means that those who did not scale through in this inaugural edition, may well be nominated next year.”
A lineup of the awardees is a testimony to the fact they were carefully selected and are stand out personalities worthy of awards like these.
“Governor Caleb Mutfwang who is a proud son of Mangu Kingdom, leads a lineup of the awardees as he will be conferred with an “Icon of Leadership Award” while the Transition Implementation Committee Chairman of Mangu LGA, Hon. Markus Artu, will be conferred with the “Peace Icon Award” in recognition of his efforts in restoring peace in the council.”Other awardees include Hon. (Engr) Jeremiah Satmark, Chief of Staff to the Governor of Plateau State, Comrade Diyen Philemon Joshua (FCPA), the Director, Chieftaincy Affairs, Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs of Plateau State, and Hon. Mathew Sylvanus Kwarpo, Member, Plateau State House of Assembly.
“Others include Hon. (Dr) Bala Ndat Fwanje, Liaison Officer, Mangu South State Constituency, Amb. (Dr) Mark Maimako Adams (PHF), the Secretary General, Mwaghavul Development Association, (MDA), Women Wing and State Chairperson, Standup For Women Society (SWS), Mrs. Grace Joseph Gora, Barr. Ezra Jinang, a young entrepreneur, Mr. Istifanus Bitrus Shehu, the MD/CEO, Stevelektromotoci Nigeria LTD., as well as the founder of Gindiri Peace And Unity Mega Hike, Bilal Ali.
“All the recipients of the awards are illustrious indigenes of Mangu land and have contributed immensely to the development of the Kingdom.”
On the sidelines of the award ceremony will be the launching of the Mangu Youth Empowerment Scheme which will serve as a catalyst to stand as a bridge between government and the community by contributing a quota to taking most of our youths out of the streets and helping them get a head start in life.
The aim of the scheme is to create at least 10 entrepreneurs every year, who will in turn employ at least five youths, thereby taking off 50 youths off the streets.
“We intend to do this by providing them with the necessary training, skills, tools and soft, low interest loans to act as a startup grant at the end of the periodical trainings,” Dachen said.
