Plateau: Village Chief killed in Bokkos LGA

On Friday 31st May 2019, yet to be identified assailants killed a traditional leader in Bokkos LGA –central Plateau state.

Filing in his report from Jos, our correspondent reports that Mr. Musa Doy, a 54 year old monarch and “Mai Angwa” of Kuba village, was killed in a road attack near Bethany Christian Academy, Barkin Ladi.

The monarch in the company of some aides was driving along the Barkin Ladi – Bokkos road at about 7pm, when his vehicle was stopped and gun fire opened on it.

Reports say one person, Mr. Amos Mangut survived the attack but with severe injuries sustained from multiple gunshots.

It is unclear whether the attack was carried out as an assassination as seen in the past with Bokkos monarchs or simply an arm robbery attack –given the attack happened in a popular armed robbery spot.

This attack brings to 11 the number of monarch who have been killed in similar circumstances on the Plateau.

Bokkos has suffered particularly from such attacks, with the Paramount ruler — Chief Lazarus Agai killed on 18th June 2016, Chief Sunday Adake ( a second class chief) and 4 other monarch also killed under similar circumstances.

The late Chief Musa Doy attend the College of Health Technology, Zawan and worked as a Local Immunization Officer at the Plateau State Local Government Service Commission, prior to his being appointed as the Chief/Mai Angwa of Kuba
