Plateau State has trained over three thousand Youths on skills acquisition, Says Governor Lalong.

Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has disclosed that his administration had trained over three thousand youths in various skills acquisition and given them take off materials  across the seven Local Government Councils of the State.

Lalong stated this yesterday at the Government House Jos during an interactive session with N-Power beneficiaries after one year commencement of the programme in Jos, Plateau state which cuts across different political affiliations, religious and ethnic groups has in the last one year supported millions of beneficiaries from across the country. 
 
The Governor said despite the immense social and economic successes recorded through the National Social Investment Programme (SIP), such accomplishments have witnessed little publicity because the youths, who are the major beneficiaries have not blown their trumpets.

The governor who was represented by his Deputy, Prof. Sonni Tyoden described the beneficiaries as ambassadors whose role include to educate others about the benefits of the programme adding that the state government has keyed into all four components which include the N-power, the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme, the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) and the Home Grown School Feeding Programme.

“As a way of reinforcing the economic empowerment efforts by the Federal Government my administration has given high priority to youth empowerment and we have embarked on a large scale Youth empowerment in the seventeen Local Government Areas of Plateau State”.

” You are reminded that the intervention will soon come to an end, having spent the first year out of two years, you must think outside the box and explore all opportunities before you including those specifically put in Place under the Plateau State Micro finance, small and medium Enterprise development Agency PLASMEDAN”.

He assure that Government is putting collective efforts both State and Federal Government to alleviate the suffering of teeming unemployed youths in no distant time.

Earlier the Focal Person /Executive Assistant to the Governor on SIP, Dr. Sumaye Hamza said the event tagged ‘Spectrum of Opportunities and Celebration of Success’ was aimed at looking at the range of opportunities before the beneficiaries as a result of the intervention.

Dr. Hamza explained that, “N-power job creation currently stands at 2,900 for those receiving monthly allowance of N30, 000. 8,970 candidates were preselected in the second batch of N-power; 454 N-build beneficiaries have been preselected and training materials already delivered to the designated centres while 21,005 beneficiaries are paid the conditional cash transfer in six local government areas of the state.”
