Those who retired from the Service of the Plateau State Specialist Hospital Jos in 2023 were today celebrated and awarded in a grand style at the Premise of the Tertiary Health Institution.
Speaking during the Retirement and Awards Day 2023 the Chief Medical Director of the Plateau State Specialist Hospital, Prof. Christopher Yilgwan appreciated the senior Citizens for their dedication to duty, hard work, immeasurable and invaluable services rendered throughout their years in service.
He said they gave their all in serving the State diligently and providing quality healthcare services to humanity.
He said the idea of the Maiden edition of the retirement and award day became necessary to appreciate the retirees for their contributions to public health and for the exceptional services they rendered.
He further stated that the management will make the event an annual one and go a step to include awarding staff still in active service that will distinguished themselves in terms of exceptional service delivery.
He commended the State Governor for giving priority to the health sector.
Dr. Shurkuk Cletus Bako in his remarks lauded the initiative of the new Chief Medical Director to celebrate and award the Retirees.
He appreciated the Retirees for serving the State meticulously and for providing healthcare services to humanity. He said the Ministry of Health will call on them whenever their expertise, wealth of experience, skills and services are needed.
He assured the Citizens of the State government commitment to providing quality healthcare services and ensuring that the priority accorded the health sector is sustained to achieve better improvement in public health in the State.
Director of Administration of the Hospital, Jacob Dung Bot charged the Celebrants to ensure they exercise regularly, engage in meaningful economic activities, socialise positively and not relent in value addition to the society.
He admonished other staff of the Hospital to deliberately plan for their retirement while in active service.
Rev. Sylvester Dachomo of Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) Headquarters while praying for the the Senior Citizens, Management, Staff and Hospital urged them to put their trust on God who will not forsake them nor allow them to slumber. He urged them to see their work as service to God and humanity.
He charged them to be mindful of heavenly awards and celebration while they are being celebrated on account of the services being provided.
Chairman Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) of the Hospital, Dr. Abel Izang while giving the closing remarks told the Celebrants that there are million reasons to praise God and celebrate their successful retirement charging them to be good Ambassadors of the Institution anywhere they are.
Speaking on behalf of the Retirees, Haruna Rabot appreciated the management of the Hospital under the leadership of Prof. Christopher Yilgwan for the unprecedented event which he said is the first of its kind since he started work to his retirement. He said they are all grateful to God for successful retirement, for the opportunity to serve humanity and delighted for the initiative to celebrate and award them. He said they wouldn’t relent in providing services to humanity and the society.
The event was well attended by top medical Experts from the State, Family and well wishers of the Retirees.
Highlights of the event include the presentation of Awards and refrigerators to the Retirees which was led by the Chief Medical Director of the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), Dr. Pokop Bupwatda, Plateau State Health Commissioner Dr. Cletus Bako and group photographs.
