Plateau State PDP says it has Uncovered Plans by the State Government to Impose it’s Candidates as Management Committee Members

Plateau State PDP says it has Uncovered Plans by the State Government to Impose all Chairmanship and Councillorship Candidates as Transition Committee Officials.

The People’s Democratic Party, PDP said it has uncovered plans by the Plateau State to impose all its Chairmanship and Councillorship Candidates as Caretaker Chairmen and Part-time Councillors.

This was made available to Viewpoint Nigeria by the Public Relations Officer, PRO of the Party and reads:

PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY (PDP) PLATEAU STATE CHAPTER

Wednesday February 7, 2018

PLANNED IMPOSITION OF ANOTHER SET OF MANAGEMENT COMMITTEES ON THE PEOPLE.

Information has it that following the postponement of the Local Government Council Elections by Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC), plans afoot by the APC-led administration to appoint yet another set of Management Committees for the Local Government. We are reliably aware that the Chairmanship Candidates of the APC in the postponed elections are being considered as Chairmen, with their Deputies as Secretaries, while their Councillorship Candidates become members of the soon to be put in place Management Committees.

The implication of this contemplated plan is that the APC Candidates in the postponed elections would have been catapulted into their respective offices albeit through the back door.

It would be recalled that last week Thursday, February 1, 2018, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Plateau State drew attention of the public to the effect that it smelt a rat. Loh and behold! On Monday this week, PLASIEC conveyed the postponement of the Local Government Elections in a letter addressed to Chairmen of the participating political parties in the State.

The Lalong Government, after the dissolution of legally constituted councils in the State, has never left discerning minds on his plan to continue to work with non-elected officials at the Local Government tier. This development is not only not acceptable and condemnable, but a recipe for anarchy. Should Governor Lalong go ahead with the planned action, he should be ready to bear the consequences what would follow.

As we invite lovers of peace and protectors of democracy to be on the look-out as these ugly events continue to unfold in the State, we wish sound loud and clear that the good people of our beloved State can no longer be taken for granted. Enough is enough!
