Plateau State PDP Raises tempo of Engagement for 2019 General Election.

The Plateau State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has raised the tempo of its engagement with strategic stakeholders to ensure victory at all levels in the 2019 general election.

The leadership held a crucial meeting on Friday, December 28, 2018, at the party’s secretariat with all candidates for the Senate, House of Representatives and Houses of Assembly.

State Chairman, Hon. Damishi Sango said the PDP Caucus is working towards total victory of the party at all levels.

He urged the Candidates to step up their campaign preparations.
“The Campaigns from State Assembly to Presidency should be collective” he admonished.

In this wise, candidates and their supporters will not be allowed to run isolated campaigns, but are instead to campaign for one another in a collaborative manner.

“There will be no parallel campaigns, all should work in unison for victory come 2019.”

In the interactive session that followed, the candidates brought many issues to the fore for prompt action by the party.

A Candidate expressed great dismay at the ban on placing of opposition candidates’ billboards by a government agency at strategic locations in the State.

Another Candidate charged Candidates to discard all bitterness and instead work in harmony with all opinion moulders.

Various candidates gave assurances that all the three zones are ready to vote massively for the PDP.

They called for genuine and constructive engagements with aggrieved members who have grudges to get their understanding and involve them in the campaigns.

They said the Gubernatorial Candidate and State Chairman should take advantage of the one month period before the elections to reconcile aggrieved members.

They observed that while the Presidential Candidate, Alh. Atiku Abubakar has the capacity to match the Incumbent President, the Plateau Gubernatorial Candidate, Sen. JT Useni has the capacity to match the State Governor.

Other candidates urged the party to release the programme of activities in a timely manner to help in adequate planning.

They said campaigns should be grassroots- based and aimed at disclosing the agenda of the party to the electorate.

The Candidates spoke on the need to reach out to those who contested elections but didn’t win.

During tha parley too, an appeal was made to the party’s governorship candidate Senator Useni to show himself working closely with the Presidential Candidate to clear the rumors and propaganda making the rounds that he is undertaking a parallel campaign to the Presidential Candidate’s.

In his response, Senator Useni harped on the need for teamwork, being more strategic, penetrating the nooks and crannies of the State. He said he is ready to contain the incumbent in all ramifications for resounding victory to bring the people of the State out of their present harsh and unfriendly predicament.

On the presidential campaign, Senator Useni
said he is working to ensure that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar wins the election in Plateau.

He said the rumor that he is working at cross purposes with the PDP Presidential Candidate is baseless, malicious and false – all aimed at dividing the Party.

He said he can never work for the candidate of another party aside the PDP.

“The victories of PDP Presidential, Gubernatorial, National Assembly and State Assembly Candidates in the 2019 General Elections are settled” he concluded.

The leadership of the party will continue with similar meetings aspirants into various positions in the recent primaries as well as chairmanship candidates who were denied their victory in the recent highly fraudulent Local government elections.

The series of parleys are strengthening the party’s cohesion, building team spirit and strategising towards resounding victories in the forthcoming polls.
